It works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, which kills and stops the growth of infection-causing bacteria.
It is commonly prescribed for the treatment of bacterial infections such as:
Respiratory tract infections – pneumonia, bronchitis, sinusitis, tonsillitis, pharyngitis
Ear infections (otitis media)
Skin and soft tissue infections
Urinary tract infections (UTIs)
Typhoid fever (in some cases, as prescribed)
