Piperacillin + Tazobactam is a broad-spectrum combination antibiotic used to treat serious bacterial infections, including those caused by beta-lactamase producing bacteria.

  • Piperacillin works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to bacterial death.

  • Tazobactam is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that protects Piperacillin from enzymatic degradation, making it effective against resistant bacteria.

Piperacillin + Tazobactam 2 g + 250 mg is indicated for:

  1. Respiratory tract infections: Pneumonia, bronchitis

  2. Urinary tract infections (UTIs)

  3. Skin and soft tissue infections

  4. Intra-abdominal infections: Peritonitis, abscesses

  5. Bone and joint infections

  6. Septicemia (blood infections)

  7. Other infections caused by beta-lactamase producing bacteria
