CEFTRIAXONE 250 MG

Ceftriaxone is a broad-spectrum, bactericidal antibiotic that kills bacteria by inhibiting their cell wall formation. It is widely used in children to treat moderate to severe bacterial infections. Its long half-life allows once or twice daily dosing, making it convenient for pediatric therapy.

The injection comes as a sterile powder, which is reconstituted with a suitable diluent (sterile water or saline) before being administered intravenously (IV) or intramuscularly (IM).

Ceftriaxone 250 mg injection is used in children for various bacterial infections, including:

  1. Respiratory Tract Infections:

    • Pneumonia, bronchitis, and severe lung infections.

  2. Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs):

    • Complicated and uncomplicated UTIs.

  3. Skin and Soft Tissue Infections:

    • Cellulitis, wound infections, abscesses.

  4. Blood Infections (Septicemia):

    • Bacterial infections in the bloodstream.

  5. Bone and Joint Infections:

    • Osteomyelitis and septic arthritis.

  6. Meningitis:

    • Caused by susceptible bacteria like Neisseria meningitidis and Streptococcus pneumoniae.

  7. Other Infections:

    • Ear infections, abdominal infections, and certain sexually transmitted infections (if age-appropriate).
